The Rajasthan Royals franchise has made some baffling decisions in the IPL 2025 so far. From team selection to captaincy choices, the team decisions have been baffling. However, there is another strange choice which the franchise has made and that is to make ex-MI star, Akash Madhwal sit out of every game.
The former Mumbai Indians player was MI's highest wicket-taker in 2023 IPL season and was the breakout star of that season as the franchise reached the playoffs due to his excellence. However, RR have preferred Yudhvir Singh Charak over him.
Why no Akash Madhwal in playing XI?
In the 2023 season he had 14 wickets for MI, however, this season RR management have preferred Yudhvir Singh and that could be because of the extra pace which the pacer has over Akash Madhwal. He can easily clock in excess of 140 and RR side have perhaps gone with pace over skills this season and this could be a reason why Madhwal was neglected throughout the season.
In the last season, Madhwal just picked 5 wickets in 5 games and this could be another reason that the team is not trusting the pacer to deliver the goods in the IPL. Charak has only played a solitary game in IPL 2025 and looked promising and perhaps the team wants to give him one more chance.
