Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube ran though Vidarbha’s batting line-up in the second semifinal of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy in Nagpur. After going wicketless in his previous match against Haryana, Dube picked up the prized scalps of Vidarbha’s well-set number three Parth Rekhade, season’s run-machine Karun Nair before mopping up the tail to claim astonishing figures of 5-49 from his 11.5 overs.

With his latest spell, the 31-year-old gave a massive all-round boost to the CSK franchise roughly a month before the IPL 2025 season.

Shivam Dube returns back to wicket-taking ways

Shivam Dube picked up the third five-wicket haul of his first-class career through the course of his astonishing spell against Vidarbha in the second semifinal of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season. The speedster dismissed dangermen Parth Rekhade, Karun Nair before mopping up the tail to fold up Vidarbha for 383.

Shivam Dube, who has picked up just five wickets so far in his 65-match IPL career since 2019, might well have prompted the CSK team management and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad to utilize his bowling services in the upcoming IPL 2025 season.

Dube was retained by the CSK franchise prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction last year. The cricketer was retained alongside captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni and Matheesha Pathirana.

The IPL 2025 season is scheduled to start on March 22 with a match between KKR and RCB. The following day, the CSK franchise will commence its campaign by going up against Mumbai Indians at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
