The much-awaited IPL 2025 schedule is out and the 18th edition will kick off with Kolkata Knight Riders going up against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata on March 22. KKR are the champions of the last edition and this is the first time after the inaugural season that they would be facing RCB in the curtain raiser.

There will be total 74 matches in IPL 2025 which includes 70 league games and four playoff games across 64 days. There will be 12 double-headers and and the teams are divided into two groups. 

The Group 1 includes RCB, CSK, RR, PBKS and KKR. The rest of the teams will form the Group 2. Teams will meet the other franchises in their group twice and one from the another group determined by seeding, while they will face the other four teams of their rival group once.

 Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium while Qualifier 2 and final will be at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The finale will be played on May 25. The matches will be played across 13 venues with Delhi Capitals set to play their two games at Vizag, while Rajasthan Royals will play couple of matches in Guwahati. Dharamsala has been handed three games of Punjab Kings this IPL season.

CSK vs MI On First Super Sunday Of IPL 2025

As the tournament starts on Saturday, the next day will be a double header where the finalists of last edition, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be up against Rajasthan Royals in a day encounter. It will be followed by the El-Classico of the IPL as CSK will take on MI at the Chepauk in a blockbuster encounter on Super Sunday.

The last league game will be played on 18th of May and it will be between Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Ekana Stadium will host that game while playoffs will start on 20th of May with Qualifier 1. The 2025 season is a start of a new cycle after the mega auction in November and with change in arsenal in all the teams, the tournament is expected to dish out some big surprises along with usual edge-of-the-seat thrillers.
