Dhoni's Lack Of Intent And...? 3  Signs That Indicate That CSK Are Not Same IPL Team Anymore

On Saturday, April 5, Chennai Super Kings locked horns against Delhi Capitals at the Chepauk Stadium. It was an embarrassing match for the Men in Yellow as they suffered a 25-runs defeat. Following the loss, the five-time winners were under the scanner as the fans blamed the approach.

Notably, the five-time winners have been under the scanner as they have registered just a solitary win in four matches, which includes three defeats in a row. The fans have complained that CSK aren't looking the same team that have won five trophies and this article will look at the three signs that indicate that CSK are not the same anymore.

1. Lack Of Intent In the Batting Unit

CSK are known for planning its innings and constructing it in a positive way. The Men in Yellow, over the years, have utilised the middle-overs well and keep the required run-rate in check with regular hits and boundaries.

Meanwhile, in the recently concluded match against DC, CSK lost five wickets within 10 overs, but Vijay Shankar and MS Dhoni lacked intent and seemed as if they have accepted in the 10th over itself.

The two stars didn't even dispatch bad deliveries for fours and it was nothing more than a snooze fest that irked the fans for the lack of intent for hitting boundaries.

2. Losing Home Games At Chepauk Stadium

CSK have had poor seasons, but Chepauk Stadium has been their fortress, and they don't suffer defeat there. However, in the ongoing season, CSK suffered a defeat against RCB at Chepauk for the first time since 2008.

Further, DC too registered their first-ever win over CSK at Chepauk in 15 years. Thus, it indicates that something is seriously wrong with the Men in Yellow and they are in dire need of changes.

3. Not Learning From Mistakes

CSK are a team, that learns and adapts according to the situation. However, in the ongoing season, the management has turned a blind eye towards fans' demand of having Ruturaj Gaikwad to open the innings with Devon Conway.

Conway and Gaikwad are one of the best CSK opening pair as they have 849 partnership runs across 15 innings in 2023 and averaged 56.60 per stand. They also dominated the powerplay with 619 runs at a run rate of 8.86. Further, it is worth noting that in this season, the Super Kings have the lowest run-rate in powerplay.

However, in the ongoing season, CSK didn't start with Conway and Gaikwad has been adamant to bat at No.3. Further, against DC, they played together, but Conway opened the innings with Rachin Ravindra.
