Sameer Rizvi Faces Embarrassing Outing In UP T20 2025 [Source: AFP]
Delhi Capitals’ young talent, Sameer Rizvi, faced a tough moment in the UP T20 League 2025. On Friday (August 22), while representing Kanpur Superstars against Noida Kings at the Ekana Stadium, he was dismissed for zero after facing eight balls, marking his most disappointing outing of the tournament so far.
Sameer Rizvi Struggles With Bat Against Noida Kings
The moment unfolded in the 4th over of Kanpur’s innings. The team had already lost two early wickets, and Rizvi walked in with hopes of steadying the innings. However, the 21-year-old batter struggled right from the start, playing seven dot balls in a row. Eventually, he succumbed on the eighth delivery, leaving his side under immense pressure.
This poor performance continues his rough run in the UP T20. In the first match, the former CSK player scored 45 off 36 balls, but his team failed to chase a big total. Since then, he has managed only 25 (18 balls) and 19 (13 balls) in the next two games.
As a result, his overall tally stands at just 89 runs from four innings with a strike rate of 118.67, far below expectations.
This is in stark contrast to his Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 form. Playing for Delhi Capitals, Rizvi scored 121 runs in five matches at an impressive strike rate of 153.16, including a stunning unbeaten 58 off 25 balls in a crucial run chase. Earlier, he was part of Chennai Super Kings, who signed him for a massive ₹8.4 crore before he moved to Delhi.
For now, the young batter will be eager to turn things around quickly in the UP T20 League and prove that this poor patch is only temporary.
