Pakistan's veteran fast bowler Mohammad Amir had a horrendous outing in his maiden CPL 2025 appearance. Although the Trinbago Knight Riders defeated the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the high-scoring affair, Amir let down the visitors with a poor bowling performance.
Mohammad Amir Fails Miserably In CPL 2025
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots leaked runs rapidly, with Colin Munro hammering their bowlers to all parts of the ground. The New Zealand batter's scintillating century propelled the Knight Riders to 231 for five in 20 overs.
Considering it was a huge total, the Knight Riders expected their bowlers to dominate the proceedings in the second half. However, their lead seamer Mohammad Amir had the worst possible start to the innings, as Andre Fletcher took him to the cleaners.
The swashbuckling West Indies batter capitalised on Amir's medium pace, smashing him for three boundaries and a magnificent six in the fifth over. TKR skipper Nicholas Pooran instantly took the left-arm pacer off the attack and brought him back when the Patriots were on the back foot, having lost three wickets.
However, Amir once again let the momentum slip to the opponents' hands, and Rilee Rossouw emerged as his nemesis in the 15th over. The South African hammered Amir for two huge sixes, helping his side collect 19 runs off his third over.
He finally had a turnaround in the 19th over, dismissing the well-set Jason Holder, who struck a blazing 22-ball 44 during his stay. Thus, Amir finished his spell with mediocre figures of one for 51, while Usman Tariq starred with the Knight Riders, scalping four wickets for 33 runs.
Despite Amir's forgettable outing, TKR managed to defend the target successfully, opening their account in the points table with a narrow win.
