Tim David Scoring vs South Africa - (Source: AFP)
On Tuesday, August 19, Australia will lock horns against South Africa for the three-match ODI series. The Men in Yellow will be led by Mitchell Marsh, and only a few players are different from the ones that played in the T20I series.
Although one major omission for the Kangaroos will be Tim David, who stole the show with his batting in the recently concluded series, he has not been named in the ODI squad. Meanwhile, this article will shed light on why David is not a part of Australia's ODI squad against the Rainbow Nation.
Why Is Tim David Not Part Of Australia's ODI Squad?
Notably, David won the player of the series award for his heroics with the bat in the T20I series and scored 150 runs in three innings, which included two fifty-plus scores.
However, David is not part of the ODI squad as he will head to the West Indies to take part in the Caribbean Premier League. Notably, David signed up with the St. Lucia Kings and missed the first few games as he was part of the T20I setup.
At present, David has flown to the Caribbean and is most likely to be in action on August 20 against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Tim David's Last ODI Appearance
Further, Tim David's last ODI appearance was in 2023 and has played just four ODIs for Australia. Also, David is not part of Australia's central contract, which is why Cricket Australia couldn't stop him from travelling to the CPL.
Talking about David's ODI career, he has scored just 45 runs, but looking at his recent T20I performance, given with Australia and IPL, he should have gotten another chance in ODI cricket.
