Pakistan’s opening batter Sahibzada Farhan has entered the record books with a brilliant achievement in T20 cricket. The 28-year-old right-hander became just the fourth Pakistani batsman to achieve 1,500 runs in T20s in a calendar year, joining the ranks of Babar Azam and other elite names.

Farhan achieved the milestone in his 35th innings of 2025, a year during which he has been in excellent form. He has played for Pakistan, the Peshawar Region, and Islamabad United, scoring runs incessantly across every series and league.

Sahibzada Farhan matches Babar Azam’s feat

His landmark moment came during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash against Sri Lanka where he scored 24 off 15 balls, including 2 fours and a six to give a set platform to Pakistan in the 134-run chase.

With that, Sahibzada Farhan surpassed the 1,500 T20 runs mark in a calendar year, becoming the 4th Pakistani batter to do so. Prior to him, Babar Azam reached this milestone three times (2019, 2021, 2024), Mohammad Rizwan achieved it twice (2021, 2022), and Shan Masood reached this milestone once (2022).

While Farhan achieved a personal milestone, his knock against India in the Super Four contest wasn’t good enough to put Pakistan across the finish line. He scored 58 runs but took 45 balls to reach there with 5 fours, 3 sixes and a mediocre strike rate of 128.89.

His slow inning restricted Pakistan to 171/5, which India chased down with 7 balls to spare to seal a comfortable and dominant 6-wicket win.

Pakistan avoid Super Four elimination

That being said, despite getting hammered by India for the second time in the tournament, Pakistan managed to beat Sri Lanka by five wickets to keep their Asia Cup 2025 campaign afloat.

The bowlers did a good job, restricting Sri Lanka to 133 runs in the first inning. In the chase, Hussain Talat (32) and Mohammad Nawaz (38) played valuable innings to help Pakistan to a 5-wicket victory with 2 overs to spare.
