India and Bangladesh are set to square off in a crucial Asia Cup Super Four clash on September 24, and a big question is whether captain Litton Das will be fit to take the field. Notably, the match, set to be played under high stakes, could decide Bangladesh’s path to the final.
Litton Das expected to be available against India
During Bangladesh’s training session ahead of the big clash, Litton felt discomfort on his left side while attempting a cut shot after an extended fielding drill. Eyewitnesses reported that he immediately stopped batting, sat down to rest, and later laid down near the nets as team physios rushed to attend to him.
However, Dr. Debasish, who examined him, confirmed that the injury is not serious. With no major concerns, Litton is expected to lead his side in the Super Four encounter against India. His presence will be crucial for Bangladesh’s batting stability at the top of the order.
In this tournament, however, Litton hasn't impressed thoroughly. From his 4 matches, he piled up 119 runs at an average of 29.75 and at a strike rate of 129.35. His highest score of 59 runs came against Hong Kong in Bangladesh's Asia Cup opener.
Bangladesh is in with a lot at stake
Bangladesh face a virtual must-win situation if they want to secure their spot in the Asia Cup final. A victory against India would put them in a strong spot for the final, while a loss could leave their fate dependent on the result with Pakistan.
India, meanwhile, come into the contest with confidence after a dominant win over Pakistan. Both sides will treat this clash as a virtual semifinal, and Litton Das’s availability could play a decisive role in Bangladesh’s campaign.
