Prithvi Shaw recently made headlines after reports of him leaving the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) went viral. The 25-year-old is now seeking a fresh challenge and is set to shift bases for the upcoming domestic season.

The right-handed batter is currently going through a tough phase in his career, having fallen out of favour with the Indian team for the last four years. Shaw’s last international appearance was in 2021.

Prithvi Shaw Receives Valuable Advise From Sachin Tendulkar

This year, Prithvi Shaw faced new setbacks as he was not picked for the IPL and went unsold in the cash-rich league. Once touted as the next big star in Indian cricket, Shaw has recently struggled with never-ending controversies and fitness issues.

In the past couple of years, Shaw has gained considerable weight, clearly surpassing the fitness standards required for international cricket. Amid ongoing struggles with fitness and constant criticism from fans and pundits, Shaw revealed that only a few people still believe in him.

Speaking with News24, Prithvi shared that he recently met Sachin Tendulkar, who encouraged him to get back on track.

"Sachin sir knows about my journey. Arjun and I have been friends since we were 8-9 years old. We’ve played together and grown up together. Sir was also there sometimes. I had a word with him a little while ago, hardly two months ago. He was practising at the MIG, and I was there too. I spoke to him then as well. When things go awry and you drift away, you need that mentor who can light a spark in you," Shaw told News24.

He still believes in me. He said, 'Prithvi, I still believe in you, and I'll continue to do so.' Because he has seen me grow up. Even today, he tells me, 'Sahi track pe aa ja, jaise pehle tha' (Come back on the same track as earlier). Everything is possible in the next 13-14 years. So he believes in me, and that means a lot," he added.

Shaw Likely to Join Maharashtra

The first step Shaw has taken on his path to recovery is leaving Mumbai. The 25-year-old is most likely to join Maharashtra and play alongside Ruturaj Gaikwad.

MCA secretary Abhay Hadap confirmed to The Hindu that the MCA has issued the NOC and expressed gratitude towards Shaw for his contribution to Mumbai cricket.
