On Wednesday, June 25, former England opener Alex Hales scripted history while featuring for the LA Knight Riders in the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) season. The 36-year-old, who has made T20 cricket his priority, became the first batter ever to hit 1,500 fours in the shortest format of the game.

Hales Scripts History In MLC

Notably, in the MLC match between LA Knight Riders and Texas Super Kings, the right-handed batter scored 5 runs off 6 balls, which included a solitary four. With that single boundary, Hales reached the historic milestone of 1,500 fours in T20 cricket.

Hales surpassed the likes of Virat Kohli and Babar Azam to claim this record. Here is the complete list of players with the most fours in T20 cricket:

Alex Hales Also Completes 500 T20 Games

As mentioned, Hales is a globetrotter, featuring in T20 leagues across the world—from the BPL, BBL, PSL, to MLC. The English star recently completed 500 T20 appearances, becoming the first England player to achieve this feat. Overall, he is the seventh player after Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Shoaib Malik, Sunil Narine, and David Miller to reach this milestone.

Alex Hales Struggles in MLC 2025

Despite his record-breaking feats, Hales has struggled for form in America this season. In his five appearances for LA Knight Riders, he has managed just 37 runs at an average of 7.40.

This dip in performance comes after a strong showing in the ILT20 earlier this year, where Hales amassed 405 runs in 13 innings at an average of 36.82.
