A star-studded India A, led by Jitesh Sharma, faced Pakistan A in their second Group B encounter of the Rising Stars Asia Cup in Doha on Sunday, November 16.

As all-rounder Maaz Sadaqat's 2/12 (3) and 79*(47) leads his team to the semi-final of the Rising Stars Asia Cup, here's how the match panned out.

Vaibhav and Dhir provide India with a solid start

Backing up his blistering 144 from the last match, Vaibhav Suryavanshi once again gave India a good start, alongside vice-captain Naman Dhir. After losing Priyansh Arya in the 4th over, the duo stitched a stand of 49(32) before Dhir was dismissed by Saad Masood.

The opener scored 45(28) with the help of five fours and three sixes, while the deputy skipper scored six fours and a six for his 35(20).

Spinners suffocate India's middle order

Pakistan spin duo of Maaz Shadaqat and Saad Masood stopped India's run-flow in the middle overs, while inflicting a middle-order collapse for India.

Masood finished his four-over spell with 2/31, scalping prized wickets of the dangerous Naman Dhir and Ashutosh Sharma. On the other hand, Shadaqat dismissed captain Jitesh Sharma and Nehal Wadhera in quick succession.

Ashutosh failed to open his account, despite facing 6 balls; similarly, neither Jitesh nor Nehal got going against the spinners. The skipper tried to release pressure by taking on the bowler, but was caught at long off on 5(9), followed by Nehal's stumping at 8(11) — Shadaqat finished with an impressive 2/13(3).

Harsh Dubey's effort of providing a late flurry ended with 19(15), as speedster Shahid Aziz came back to dismantle India at 136, picking up 3/24 (3).

Sadaqat's explosive 79* powers Pakistan to the semi-final

Picking up from where he left the prvious match against Oman (96*), opener Maaz Sadaqat attacked the Indian bowlers in the powerplay and scored 57/1 in the powerplay.

After being dropped at 0*(1) and again at 53*(33), he went on to score 79*(47) with the help of 7 fours and four sixes.

Notably, at 9.1, when the southpaw tried to attack Suyash Sharma's googly, he was acrobatically caught by the joint effort of Wadhera and Dhir; however, was given not out by the TV umpire.

Opener Mohammad Naeem played the second fiddle and scored 14(10) before being dismissed by a fantastic catch from Naman Dhir off Yash Thakur. Yasir Khan was the only second wicket to fall in the innings after being caught at 11(9) off Suyash Sharma, as they sealed the win by 8 wickets and 6.4 overs left.

Up next, India will face Oman in their final group stage fixture on November 18 and will have another chance to seal a spot in the final four. On the other hand, Pakistan will face UAE on the same day.
