Indian Test captain Shubman Gill has been reportedly released from the hospital. The cricketer was taken to a hospital yesterday after he complained of a neck spasm. It is worth noting that on Day 2, Shubman Gill walked off the field after facing just three deliveries in the innings against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

As per latest reports, the 26-year-old has now been advised rest by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) medical team.

Shubman Gill’s participation for second Test hangs in the balance

As reported by RevSportz, Shubman Gill has been advised four to five days of rest by the BCCI medical team after getting released from the hospital on Sunday, November 16. The cricketer was taken to the hospital a day before in a bid to take medical scans as precautionary measure.

The report also indicated that even though the pain has subsided, his participation in the upcoming series-deciding second Test match against South Africa is still uncertain, and any decision will be taken in the upcoming days by analyzing his complete rehabilitation progress.

Shubman Gill walked off the field on Day 2 after reaching 4* from three balls. While he retired hurt in the innings, the Indian Test captain also did not take field in the remainder of the match, prompting vice-captain Rishabh Pant to don the leadership hat.

He also did not walk out to bat during the decisive innings, when India collapsed to 93 all out in their chase of 124 runs.

Team India eventually lost the match by 30 runs to go 0-1 down in the series. The second Test will be hosted by the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati between November 22 and November 26, i.e., leaving Shubman Gill roughly a week for gaining full recovery.
