The Test series opener between India and South Africa at the Eden Gardens saw bowlers dominating the match throughout its course of play. Following Jasprit Bumrah's five-wicket haul in the first innings, it is all spinners who are dominating the batters of both teams.

Whilst facing some lethal spin bowling on Day 2 of the Test, captain Temba Bavuma put up a masterclass batting against an on-song Ravindra Jadeja, while the wickets kept tumbling from the other end.

The Proteas number 4, showed immense grit in his knock to see out the tough phase and take the led his team to a formidable lead. In his 136-ball stay at the crease, he scored an unbeaten 55 — the only fifty-plus score of the match and asked India to chase 125 runs.

Following the end of the South African innings, as they finished with 154 runs on the board, Jaffer took to his Twitter [X] and praised the captain's knock from Bavuma.

He notably wrote about Bavuma's small stature and implied that it does not matter if the batter has a big heart and is determined to fight for his team on the crease.

"On a pitch where no other batter reached 40 in three inns, this man has given his team a fighting chance with 55*. It’s not the size of mathe n in the fight, but the size of fight in the man. Well played @TembaBavuma👏 #INDvSA," wrote the former India opener.

As India took the field for the second innings, the South African captain further used of his time at the crease by making brilliant tactical decisions, with timely bowling changes and showcased his proactive captaincy, as they look to defend a low but difficult total.

While nearing Tea on Day 3, India are 77/7, led by a Simon Harmer four-fer. Axar Patel remains the only recognized batter for the hosts, with still 48 runs to win.
