India faced another humiliating loss at the hands of England in the first Test at Headingly. Asked to chase 371 on the final day, England did it without losing much sweat, as they won comfortably by five wickets on the back of Ben Duckett's 149.

Social Media Goes After Gautam Gambhir For India's Lack Of Execution

Facing another humiliating defeat at the hands of the English side, India lost the first Test by five wickets. Putting a mammoth total of 471 on the board in the first innings, India came back strongly in the second innings as well, piling up 364.

However, with the ball, the visitors looked lacklustre, as they failed to defend 371 and lost the game in the final hour of the final session of the first Test.

Ben Duckett was the hero for the home side, as he posted a mammoth 149 off 170 deliveries, whereas Joe Root's 53 and Zak Crawley's 65 played a crucial role.

After the game, social media went berserk, as the demand to sack Gautam Gambhir as the head coach grew louder.

It is worth noting that this was Shubman Gill's first Test as skipper, whereas Gambhir has been the Indian skipper in the past two series defeats as well, to New Zealand and Australia, which India lost.
