The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 action continues as South Africa Women (SA-W) take on Bangladesh Women (BAN-W) in Match 14 on Monday, October 13 at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The high-voltage encounter will get underway at 3:00 PM IST.

South Africa Women

After a crushing 10-wicket loss to England Women in their tournament opener, South Africa Women have made a brilliant comeback with consecutive wins against New Zealand Women and India Women. Their most recent victory came in a thrilling three-wicket chase against India. Bowling first, the Proteas restricted India to 251 with Chloe Tryon leading the attack with three wickets while Nonkululeko Mlaba, Marizanne Kapp, and Nadine de Klerk picked up two apiece.

The chase wasn’t straightforward as they slipped to 81/5, but captain Laura Wolvaardt’s gritty 70 and Nadine de Klerk’s match-winning 84 off 54 balls turned the game around. With two confidence-boosting wins behind them, South Africa will aim for a hat-trick of victories and strengthen their position in the points table.

Bangladesh Women

Bangladesh Women started their campaign positively with a seven-wicket win over Pakistan Women but since then, things haven’t gone their way. They have suffered consecutive defeats to England Women and New Zealand Women. In their last outing against the White Ferns, they conceded 227/9 with Rabeya Khan being the standout bowler, claiming three wickets.

However, their batting crumbled under pressure with the top five batters all dismissed for single digits. Fahima Khatun’s 34 off 80 balls was the only resistance as they folded for 127. Bangladesh will need a collective batting effort to challenge South Africa’s in-form bowling attack. Their spinners, particularly Nahida Akter and Fahima Khatun, will have to play a major role if they are to pull off an upset in Visakhapatnam.

Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium pitch report

The Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam is known for its batting-friendly surface as it offers even bounce and plenty of opportunities for stroke-making. Spinners, however, come into play as the match progresses while pacers must make the most of the early swing before resorting to cutters and slower deliveries. Interestingly, five of the six Women’s ODIs at this venue have been won by teams batting second. Expect the captain winning the toss to field first and look to restrict the opposition.
