South Africa Women snatched an improbable win over hosts India in match 10 of the 2025 World Cup, with Nadine de Klerk playing the starring role in the run-chase through her explosive 84* off just 54 balls.

Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the tenth match of the 2025 Women’s World Cup between India Women and South Africa Women, as it panned out at the VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Thursday, October 9.

Richa Ghosh bolts India up to 251 with cracking 94

Batting first, India Women raced to a 55-run opening stand, with vice-captain Smriti Mandhana scoring 23 off 32 balls before falling to Nonkululeko Mlaba. The South African spinner also got rid of Harleen Deol a while later for just 13, shortly before Pratika Rawal had her well-set stay halted by Tumi Sekhukhune (1-29) for 37. Chloe Tryon seized South Africa’s momentum with the quick wickets of Jemimah Rodrigues and Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur, while senior pacer Marizanne Kapp scalped Deepti Sharma as the ‘Women in Blue’ slipped from 83-1 to 102-6 in the space of nine overs.

Richa Ghosh led India’s counterattacking recovery, first with a 51-run partnership with Amanjot Kaur (13 off 44) and with another 88-run stand with Sneh Rana (33 off 24) to take India closer to the 250-run mark. Ghosh cracked 94 runs from 77 balls with 11 boundaries and four sixes, before Nadine de Klerk (2-52) mopped up India’s tail for 251 in 49.5 overs.

For South Africa, Chloe Tryon (3-32) unfurled the spell of the innings, while Kapp, Mlaba and Klerk picked up two wickets each.

Marizanne Kapp and Anneke Bosch also made their way back to the sheds without making a notable contribution courtesy of Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma (1-54) as South Africa slipped to 58-4 at one stage.

Captain and senior opener Laura Wolvaardt composed 70 runs from 111 balls with eight elegant boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking for the Proteas Women. While she was dismissed by Gaud (2-59) at 142-6, Nadine de Klerk took over South African charge and shared a counterattacking 69-run partnership with Chloe Tryon (49 off 66). Klerk bludgeoned an explosive 84* from 54 balls to take South Africa home in a dramatic finish with seven balls and three wickets to spare.
