South Africa romped towards a clinical six–wicket win over Pakistan in the second T20I at Centurion’s SuperSport Park in their three-match home series. With Reeza Hendricks playing a starring role in an exhilarating run-chase, the outcome helped South Africa seal the series with a game to spare.

Here’s the timeline of how SA vs PAK panned out in Centurion:

SA vs PAK Highlights: Babar Azam Rebuilds With Ayub After Rizwan Setback

Pakistan skipper and opening batter Mohammad Rizwan was bested by South African fast bowler Ottneil Baartman for a sluggish 11 in just the fourth over of the match. Thereafter, Rizwan’s opening partner Saim Ayub reshaped Pakistan’s tottering start with a steady 87-run stand with senior man Babar Azam.

Babar himself carted 31 quick runs from just 20 balls to take Pakistan past the 100-run mark before mistiming one towards Donovan Ferreira at long-on off George Linde at 103-2 in 11.1 overs.

SA vs PAK Highlights: Saim Ayub Misses Century, Blazes Pakistan To 206

Dynamic youngster Saim Ayub notched up his maiden T20I fifty, and nearly converted it into a century through his rapacious 98* from just 57 deliveries with 11 boundaries and five sixes. While Usman Khan and Tayyab Tahir were both dismissed by South African debutant Dayyaan Galiem (2-21) in quick succession, Ayub raged on and shared a thunderous 73-run partnership with Irfan Khan (30 off just 16 balls) to set up Pakistan’s monumental 206-run total.

Abbas Afridi also smoked a boundary and a six in his four-ball 11*-run cameo in the death overs.

SA vs PAK Highlights: Jahandad Khan Seizes Early Advantage For Pakistan

Defending 207 runs for a win, young Pakistan fast bowler and Shaheen Afridi’s new ball partner Jahandad Khan jolted South Africa early with the key wickets of opener Ryan Rickelton (2 off 2) and number three Matthew Breetzke (12 off 10) within the first four overs.

SA vs PAK Highlights: Reeza Hendricks Tons Up Chase As SA Claim Series

Unfazed South African opener Reeza Hendricks mounted a colossal 157-run partnership with Rassie van der Dussen to lift his team from a precarious 28-2 to a rampaging 185-3 in the 18th over.

The 35-year-old himself belted seven boundaries and 10 sixes to bring up his maiden T20I century by hauling 117 regal runs from just 63 balls.

His dismissal to Abbas Afridi at the death made no difference to South Africa’s intent as captain Heinrich Klaasen (8* off 5) shrugged off the remaining runs alongside half-centurion Rassie van der Dussen (66* off 38) with seven wickets and three balls to spare.
