After a heated battle in the T20 series, New Zealand and Sri Lanka are ready to lock horns again — this time in the ODI format. The two teams will meet for the first match of the ODI series on January 5 at the iconic Basin Reserve in Wellington.

Sri Lanka showed fighting spirit during the T20Is, even though they couldn’t win the series. Led by Charith Asalanka, the team will be eager to improve their game and make a strong start in the ODI series. A win in the opening match would give them an early advantage.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will be looking to carry their winning form from the T20 series into the ODIs. They’ll also be using this series to fine-tune their strategies ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025.

Ahead of the series opener, let's take a look at the weather report.
