Experienced Maharashtra batter Ruturaj Gaikwad exhibited a batting masterclass, slamming a sensational century in the ongoing Buchi Babu Trophy. The stylish right-handed batter achieved the landmark during Maharashtra's ongoing match against Himachal Pradesh in the tournament. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad Makes Cricket Comeback In Style

The right-handed batter was ruled out of the Indian Premier League due to an unfortunate injury setback. However, with his stocks rapidly going downhill, Ruturaj Gaikwad made a timely comeback, slamming a glorious century in the Buchi Babu competition. 

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Maharashtra lost their key left-handed batter Siddhesh Veer for 22. However, his dismissal had little impact on Arshin Kulkarni and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who frustrated the Himachal Pradesh bowlers with their scintillating stroke play. 

Both batters eventually brought up their respective centuries. Young batter Arshin Kulkarni hammered 146 runs off just 190 balls with the help of sixteen gorgeous boundaries and one six. Despite the batter getting out just before the Tea break, Ruturaj Gaikwad magnificently countered the Himachal Pradesh bowlers, preventing any further hiccup. 

As of tea on day 1, Maharashtra were 300 for two, with Gaikwad and skipper Ankeet Bawane batting on 104* and 11*, respectively. 

Gaikwad Regains Mojo Before Domestic Season

Ruturaj Gaikwad's prolific return to red-ball cricket has certainly strengthened Maharashtra ahead of the upcoming domestic season. He has been a vital cog in the Maharashtra side in red-ball cricket, slamming 2632 runs in 65 First-Class innings. He has registered seven hundreds and fourteen fifties, exhibiting his ability to play impactful knocks in the format. 

His performance in the Buchi Babu tournament must boost his confidence ahead of a packed domestic season. So, it will be interesting to see if he sustains his dream run and makes a strong case for his international return.
