Ireland women’s captain Gaby Lewis has achieved a new milestone in her career by reaching her best-ever rating in the latest ICC Women’s T20I Player Rankings. The 24-year-old batter climbed to 625 rating points following her brilliant performance against the Netherlands at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Division I Qualifier.
Lewis, who has been leading the Irish side with both consistency and maturity, played a superb knock of 66* runs against the Dutch, which not only powered her team to victory but also boosted her standing among the world’s best.
Gaby Aims For the Top 10 Spot In ICC Rankings
With her latest rankings, though, Gaby Lewis now sits just outside the top 10 in the batting rankings. India’s Jemimah Rodrigues sits atop her and currently holds the 14th spot.
The achievement reflects Lewis’s steady rise in international cricket over the past year. Her ability to anchor the innings and play under pressure has become a key factor for Ireland’s success in the ongoing tournament. If she continues her form in the upcoming fixtures, Lewis is well-placed to break into the top 10 of the ICC rankings.
Irish Players Continue To Shine
Other Irish players have also impressed in the competition. Young batter Amy Hunter, along with Leah Paul and Freya Sargent, has been contributing with both bat and ball, showcasing the team’s depth and potential. Their efforts have ensured that Ireland remains unbeaten in the Europe Division I Qualifier.
Currently, Australia’s Beth Mooney tops the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings with 794 points. India’s Smriti Mandhana is placed third with 767 points, continuing her strong run at the international level. Lewis’s rise to 625 points puts her in close company with some of the biggest names in the women’s game.
Nevertheless, with their unbeaten run, Ireland have already booked their place in next year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier. The team will now aim to carry this momentum forward as they chase a spot in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
