Indian batter Ruturaj Gaikwad achieved an impressive milestone by scoring his seventh century in First-Class cricket during the Ranji Trophy match against Mumbai. This exciting match took place on Day 3 at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in BKC, Mumbai, where Gaikwad showcased his skills after his team lost an early wicket.
Maharashtra faced a tough start when they lost Siddhesh Veer early in the innings. They had initially struggled in their first innings, being bowled out for a mere 126 runs. Mumbai took full advantage of this, scoring a hefty 441 runs in their first innings, led by impressive performances from Ayush Mhatre and Shreyas Iyer, who scored 176 and 142 runs, respectively. This put Maharashtra in a challenging position with a substantial deficit to overcome.
Despite the early setbacks, Gaikwad stepped up as the captain of the Maharashtra team. He began Day 3 on a high note, hitting a six on the very first ball he faced from Shardul Thakur. His aggressive approach set the tone for the innings as he quickly reached the three-figure mark, demonstrating his talent and determination.
