Nothing is starting Mumbai Indians' Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan on Friday evening against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium. The two explosive openers blasted out from the word go, not letting the defending champions outsmart them in the first six overs at their own den.

After the end of the batting powerplay, MI's score read 61 for no loss, with Rohit blistering at 29* after playing 17 deliveries; meanwhile, Kishan is matching his skipper step-to-step with his 19-ball 31*.

The MI skipper, who has been struggling to put his bat on the ball of late, came out all guns blazing with a positive mindset against the defending champions, who outclassed Mumbai by 55 runs the last time these two met.

Rohit attacked Mohit Sharma, who was given the new ball for the first time this season. The talented right-handed smoked Mohit for two boundaries and a sixer in his first over before smashing a biggie off Mohammed Shami in the following over.

Meanwhile, Kishan put his feet on the accelerator against Shami while he broke the bank in the last over of the powerplay bowled by Noor Ahmad.

In just a span of six overs, the MI openers shunned the GT bowlers for a total of seven boundaries and three maximums. However, they lost their breath as soon as the powerplay ended, thanks to Rashid Khan who removed by Rohit and Kishan in the 7th over.

At the time of writing, Mumbai have two new batters at the crease in Suryakumar Yadav and Nehal Wadhera.
