Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) go toe-to-toe in Match No. 58 of the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on a doubleheader Super Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad at 3.30 PM IST. The Super Giants beat the Sunrisers by five wickets when both sides met previously in the reverse fixture in Lucknow this season. The campaign has not gone as per expectation for the 2016 champions SRH as they have played ten matches so far with four victories and six defeats. With 8 points and a net run rate of -0.472, they are placed at the ninth position in the table.

SRH Last Match in IPL 2023

The Orange Army played their last game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match No. 52 in Jaipur, where Aiden Markram's side sealed a thrilling and exciting win.

Skipper Sanju Samson won the toss, and RR elected to bat first. Youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 35 off 18, while his opening partner Jos Buttler returned to form with a solid knock of 95 off 59. Samson remained unbeaten on 66 off 38 as the Royals posted 214/2 on the board. 

In reply, barring Markram, who bagged a single-digit score, and Marco Jansen (3*), every other player scored in double digits. Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi amassed 55 and 47 runs, respectively. Heinrich Klaasen struck 26 off just 12, but Glenn Phillips turned the match on its head with his blitz cameo of 25 off just 7 with three maximums. With five needed off the final delivery, Sandeep Sharma overstepped, and Abdul Samad smashed a six on the next ball to clinch a nail-biter for SRH by four wickets. Phillips grabbed the player of the Match award for his brief innings.


LSG in IPL 2023

The Super Giants have had a mixed season so far, as they have played 11 games with five wins and as many losses. One clash with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended with no result. With 11 points and an NRR of +0.294, they are positioned fifth in the table.

LSG Last Match in IPL 2023

LSG last played their match against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match No. 51 at Ahmedabad, where the defending champions GT won the contest by a margin of 56 runs.

Captain Krunal Pandya won the toss, and the Super Giants opted to bowl first. Openers Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill added 142 runs for the opening wicket. The former made 81 off 43, while Gill struck a brilliant 94* off 51. Skipper Hardik Pandya struck 25 while South African David Miller remained not out on 21 as the Titans reached a mammoth total of 227/2.

Chasing 228, Kyle Mayers smashed 48 off 32 while his opening partner Quinton de Kock, in his first game of the season, scored 70 off 41. But the target proved too much for the visitors as they got restricted to 171/7. Pacer Mohit Sharma continued his good form as he picked up 4/29 (4). Gill was adjudged with the player of the Match award.

Both teams clashed against each other earlier this season in Match No. 10 in Lucknow, where the home side beat the Orange Army by a margin of 5 wickets.

Skipper Markram won the toss, and SRH elected to bat first. Krunal Pandya spun his web as he picked up figures of 3/18 (4). Amit Mishra and Ravi Bishnoi also snared two and one scalps, respectively, as the visitors reached only 121/8 in 20 overs. Anmolpreet Singh and Rahul Tripathi scored 31 and 35 runs, respectively, while Samad remained unbeaten on 21 off 10.

In reply, KL Rahul amassed 35 while Krunal racked up 34 off 23 as the Super Giants completed the chase in 16 overs. For his all-round show, Krunal grabbed the player of the Match award.
