Prior to the IPL 2025 season, Yashasvi Jaiswal was a bonafide star in the making and had everything in his palms. However, this season, everything changed as he received a pay-hike and went from the future of IPL to just another cricketer. But, why has he regressed so much this season?.

Some believe it is due to a mental fatigue and not able to read the pitches, but if we dive deeper, he hasn't performed since his IPL 2025 salary rise prior to this season.

Did Jaiswal's pay rise led to his downfall?

He had his breakout season in 2022 when his IPL price was INR 4 crore. For the next two seasons, his price remained the same and the performance continued to rise. However, ahead of this season, he was one of the retained players for RR and his salary increased to INR 18 crore. Since then his numbers have gone down.

As the table shows, when he used to get 4 crore, which in itself is a big amount, he delivered the goods and was a constant threat for the opposition bowlers. However, the downfall started after getting 18 crores.

In 5 matches so far, he has only accumulated 107 runs, and the strike-rate has also gone down to 127, with just one fifty-plus score this season.

So, the question arises, has the pay-rise led to Jaiswal's downfall this season?.
