Rishabh Pant has continued his dominance in the Headingley Test and has smashed another century, becoming the first Indian wicketkeeper to score hundreds in both the innings of a Test match. The batter took just 130 balls to reach the landmark and now has eight centuries in the format.

In the first innings, Rishabh Pant scored 134 off 178 balls to take India to a good first innings total, and now in the second outing, he has helped India stretch their lead with another blistering Test century. This is just the 10th time an Indian cricketer has hit a century in both innings of a Test match, and Pant has now joined the greats like Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli in the legendary list.  He is also only the second wicketkeeper after Andy Flower to hit two tons in a single Test.

Rishabh Pant Continues To Reach New Horizons As Test Wicketkeeper

Interestingly, Pant is now the second batter in the new WTC cycle to score a hundred in both the innings of a Test after Najmul Hossain Shanto. The Indian wicketkeeper, who is playing just his 44th Test match, now has the most Test runs by a visiting wicketkeeper in England. He has surpassed MS Dhoni in that list and is already the most successful Indian wicketkeeper when it comes to centuries in Test cricket.

Unlike in the first innings, India were in a spot of bother when Rishabh Pant walked out to bat on Day 4. However, the batter did not change his approach one bit and went for his shots whenever he got an opportunity. There were plenty of remarkable unorthodox hits en route to his hundred, but he was especially brutal against spinner Shoaib Bashir.

Pant's century, combined with KL Rahul's hundred, has taken India's lead close to 300, and the visitors would now like to stretch it close to 400 to put themselves in a winning position.
