Ishan Kishan has made a promising start to his much-awaited County debut for Nottinghamshire on Sunday, June 22. In a clash against Yorkshire, Ishan Kishan has ended the opening day with an unbeaten knock of 44 after his captain, Haseeb Hameed, decided to bat first at the toss.
Ishan Kishan's Unbeaten 44 Keeps Nottinghamshire Going Despite Yorkshire's Regular Strikes
The Indian wicketkeeper walked out to bat at number 6 and used all his experience to tackle Yorkshire bowlers, who found their mojo in the afternoon session after a good opening stand. Ishan Kishan, as always, mixed caution with aggression beautifully and scored 44 runs off just 53 balls before bad light forced early stumps on the opening day with Nottinghamshire at 298 for the loss of six wickets.
It was a typical Ishan Kishan knock as the batter hit three boundaries in a single over off the bowling of George Hill early in his innings to make his intentions clear. It helped him to get into his strides and the batter then eventually settled nicely, playing with great ease against almost all Yorkshire bowlers.
The left-handed batter also tackled the second new ball with great authority, with other batters finding it a bit tough at the other end. Earlier, both Nottinghamshire openers batted well and stitched together a stand of 90 runs before Haseeb Hameed departed.
Ben Slater continued, though, and looked set for a century before his untimely dismissal on 96. Overall, Yorkshire bowlers did well to keep Nottinghamshire in control with regular strikes, and the onus will be on Ishan Kishan to carry the tail with him and take his team's total as close to 400 as possible.
Ishan Kishan's association with the county this season is for just two games, and he would be hoping to make a lasting impact on the fortunes of the table-toppers in his short stay.
