Rishabh Pant notched up his 16th Test fifty through the course of his latest batting blitz against England on Day 1 of the series-opening first Test at Headingley in Leeds. Batting at number five, the 27-year-old shared over 100 runs with captain and well-set centurion Shubman Gill to take India past the 350-run mark before stumps.
Notably, Pant also soared past the likes of some elite Asian wicketkeeper-batters like MS Dhoni and Kumar Sangakkara for a historic feat.
Rishabh Pant On Top Of Elite SENA List
Rishabh Pant now has the highest number of Test runs among all Asian wicketkeeper-batters in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia). The dashing left-hander, with a penchant of scoring attacking runs regardless of the opposition or playing conditions, has so far tallied 1,746 runs in SENA countries from 49 innings.
Previously, former Indian captain MS Dhoni hauled 1,731 runs as a wicketkeeper from 60 innings spanning 32 Tests in SENA.

Notably, Rishabh Pant has aggregated more than half of his career Test runs in SENA nations. Moreover, the dashing wicketkeeper has also plundered four of his six Test hundreds in England, Australia and South Africa.
Rishabh Pant eventually finished Day 1 at 65* from 102 balls with six fours and a couple of huge sixes. He will resume his innings alongside captain and number four batter Shubman Gill on Day 2 of the Headingley Test, with Team India assuming full control at 359-3 from 85 overs.
