Ishan Kishan, who was once disparaged for rejecting domestic cricket back in late-2023 in India, has signed a short-term County Championship 2025 deal with the Nottinghamshire cricket club. The blistering wicketkeeper-batter recently represented the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise in the IPL 2025 season.

Kishan is yet to be considered for national selection since November 2023, and is currently aiming to revive his international career.

Ishan Kishan Plots Test Comeback

On Friday, June 20, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan signed a two-match deal with the Nottinghamshire cricket club. The cricketer is now available for selection in the club’s next two matches of the ongoing 2025 County Championship Divion One.

After playing a handful of Vitality T20 Blast 2025 games, Nottinghamshire is now scheduled to face Yorkshire between June 22 and June 25 in Nottingham, and Somerset between June 29 and July 2 in Taunton.

With India’s five-match Test series simultaneously running in England, a prolific outing for Ishan Kishan in the County Championship might prompt the Indian selection panel and the team management to consider him for selection for the latter half of the series.

It is worth noting that Kishan once rejected domestic cricket in India during BCCI’s 2023-24 home season citing mental fatigue, only to be found partying in Dubai a week later back in early 2024.

Notably, Ishan Kishan was also selected in India A squad for unofficial Tests against England Lions earlier this month. However, the cricketer was excluded from the playing XI in favor of fellow wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel.
