Another IPL match and another flop show by the the Lucknow Super Giants skipper, Rishabh Pant. Bought for INR 27 crore, Pant has been a disappointment in the first three matches of the IPL 2025 season and has looked vulnerable in the early goings as he continues to produce flop shows in the tournament.
Maxwell dismisses IPL's costliest player
Put into bat, LSG were rocked with an early jolt in the form of Mitchell Marsh who departed cheaply. Aiden Markram then started with a barrage of boundaries, but just when he looked threatening, the Proteas batter went back to the pavilion. This brought in Pant top the crease and in the blink of an eye, he departed for 2 runs.
Glenn Maxwell bowled a length ball down the leg side as Pant swivelled and mis-timed the ball and Yuzvendra Chahal at short-fine leg took a simple catch. Maxwell has now made a habit of dismissing Pant. In 4 innings, the two have met, Maxwell has dismissed him three times.
Pant flop show continues
Bought for 27 crore, Pant was under huge pressure heading into the season, and the pressure reflected on his batting as he was dismissed for a duck in the first game against Delhi Capitals. Against SRH, he scored a run-a-ball 15 and here against Punjab, he was sent back for just 2 runs.
In three matches, he has accumulated just 17 runs as pressure is mounting on the LSG skipper as the team's fate depends on his performance.
