In a remarkable achievement, legendary Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja joined the likes of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni on an elite list after bringing up a hard-fought fifty in the ongoing Test against England at Edgbaston. The southpaw became the Indian player with joint second-most fifty-plus scores at the iconic English venue.

Jadeja Equals Dhoni, Kohli's Milestone With Edgbaston Fifty

After India lost the crucial wickets of Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy in quick succession, Ravindra Jadeja steadied the ship with captain Shubman Gill. The duo formed a magnificent century stand for the sixth wicket, leading India's incredible fightback.

While Gill notched up another Test ton, Jadeja completed a valiant half-century in the first session on day 2. Thus, he joined former captains MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli on the list of Indian batters with the most fifty-plus scores in Birmingham.

Most Fifty-Plus Scores For India At Edgbaston

  • Sunil Gavaskar - 3
  • MS Dhoni - 2
  • Ravindra Jadeja - 2
  • Virat Kohli - 2
  • Rishabh Pant - 2
  • Gundappa Vishwanath - 2

As mentioned above, Little Master Sunil Gavaskar claims the first position on the list, having struck three fifties in Tests at Edgbaston. Dhoni, Jadeja, Kohli, Pant and Vishwanath have two scores of fifty or more in Birmingham.

Interestingly, Jadeja is one of the few Indian batters who have scored a Test century at Edgbaston. If he converts his fifty into a hundred, the all-rounder will become the first-ever Indian cricketer to slam two Test tons at the historic venue.

The unbeaten Indian batting pair of Ravindra Jadeja and Shubman Gill has come out with a positive intent today. As of writing, India were 343 for five, with Jadeja and Gill batting on 61* and 125*, respectively.
