Ravichandran Ashwin Goes Past 'The GOAT' With Wicket Of Will Young In The 2nd Test At Pune

India is playing New Zealand in the second Test of the three-match series at the MCA Stadium in Pune. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first.

The two Kiwi openers gave the team a steady start and posted 30 runs in the first seven overs. However, Rohit Sharma introduced Ravichandran Ashwin at this stage, giving India the chance to come back into the match. 

Ashwin Tops The List For Most Wickets In WTC

The veteran Indian spinner first picked up Tom Latham's wicket and followed up with Will Young's. As he picked up Young's wicket, Ashwin went past Nathan Lyon on the WTC list of the most wickets taken. Young was the 188th wicket for Ashwin in WTC; he overtook the Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon, who has 187 wickets to his name in WTC.

Notably, Ravichandran Ashwin now has 531 Test wickets to his name. He is second on the list of most Test wickets by an Indian after Anil Kumble. He is in seventh place on the list of highest wicket-takers in Test cricket, behind Glenn McGrath (563) and ahead of Nathan Lyon (530). 

Ashwin's performance will be critical in this match as they eye a win to make a comeback in the series. India will be looking to win this game and take this Test series to the decider at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
