Just when the Punjab Kings was looking to dominate the KKR batters in the second innings run-chase, the unpredictable Kolkata weather hit hard as sandstorm, combined with heavy rain halted the match as players from both the sides had to rush back to the pavilion.

Sandstorm+Rain ruins KKR Vs PBKS match

At the start of the KKR chase, sandstorm arrived and it was accompanied by heavy rain as the entire square was covered by the ground-staff.

There was some prediction of rain in Kolkata on Saturday, but the first innings went smoothly. However, at the start of the KKR chase, the rain god decided to show up and the players had to go back in.

Eden Gardens weather update

There is relentless rain and thunderstorm predicted for the next one hour, but Kolkata weather is unpredictable to say the least. However, the Eden Gardens drainage system is quite good and if the rain stops the play could resume shortly.

PBKS batters dominate KKR bowlers

Opting to bat first, the Punjab Kings openers posted 120 runs with both Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh dominating the proceedings. The duo laid a strong foundation for the middle order batters, but they crumbled under a bit of pressure.

It was a late assault from Shreyas Iyer which helped the team cross the 200-run mark (201), and have set a daunting target of 202 for the home side. If the rain somehow abandons the contest, both the teams will get a point each which will not benefit either of the two teams.
