The upcoming Qualifier-1 game between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is going to be massive. PBKS opener Priyansh Arya who has set this IPL alive with his fluent stroke play and aggressive power hitting, especially in the powerplay, turning heads with his range of shots has been a major factor for the side.
Priyansh Arya All Set To Enter Major Record Books
Currently, the 15th highest scorer in the IPL, with a cumulative 424 runs in 14 games at an average of 30.29 and a strike rate of 183.55, Priyansh Arya has been impressive. The Punjab Kings batter who has done a tremendous job while opening the innings, Priyansh has one century to his name, whereas he has dominated this season with two half centuries.
Therefore, the left-handed opener batter is now just 50 runs away from becoming the highest uncapped Indian run-scorer, in the debut IPL season. Currently, the record is with Devdutt Padikkal who scored 473 runs, playing for RCB back in 2020, where he averaged 31.53 and had an impressive strike rate of 124.80 with five half centuries to his name as the left-handed batter was impressive for RCB.
Therefore, if Priyansh manages to gather 474 runs after his name in this edition of the league, he will top the charts for scoring the most runs by an uncapped Indian player in his debut IPL season. Adding to that, he is the third highest run-scorer for Punjab this season, only behind skipper Shreyas and Prabhsimran Singh, who have 514 and 499 runs respectively.
Priyansh Arya's Breakthrough IPL Season
After impressing one and all with his outstanding batting in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024, Priyansh Arya was bagged by the Punjab Kings for ₹3.80 crore.
He has justified his price tag, as he has helped PBKS qualify for the play-offs this season as they finished at the top of the table with nine wins in 14 games and will now be playing against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru side in Qualifier-1, to be played at their home in Chandigarh, on the 29th of May.
