Pigeon during England vs West Indies (Source:@englandcricket/X.com)
England and West Indies are up against each other in the third ODI at the Kennington Oval. The home team has already won both the games so far and are in a strong position in this ODI as well. West Indies need a miracle to make a comeback with seven wickets down under 200.
Gudakesh Motie Unknowingly Hurts Pigeon
At this moment though, the miracle looks a distant dream. However, there was a moment in the game which is quite rare on the cricket field. On one of the deliveries off Adil Rashid, Gudakesh Motie, played the ball through covers and it nearly hit a pigeon. Rest of the pigeons started flying as soon as the ball went around them, but one pigeon that stood on the ground.
Matthew Potts tried to make it fly, but it did not, and looked quite adamant. It eventually flew and the game started, but the event grabbed plenty of eyeballs, surprising everyone watching the game. After the event, Gudakesh Motie continued his resistance and has taken his team over 200 with a counter-attacking batsmanship. See the incident in the video here.
West Indies Struggle In Final ODI
Windies batting has let them down in this series, and once again in the third ODI, they ended up losing four wickets for just 90 runs. Sherfane Rutherford though continued his good form from IPL and hit a fluent 70 from just 71 balls, but could not carry on and get a big hundred. The wicket of Rutherford reduced West Indies to 154 for seven with Adil Rashid picking three wickets and Carse taking two.
In the first match of the series, Men in Maroon lost the game by a huge margin of 238 runs. They had a chance to win the second game, but Joe Root played a stunning knock of 166 to take England over the line, and things are not looking bright for the visitors in this game either.
