There were question marks over Marcus Stoinis' place in the LSG team, but he silenced his critics with a brilliant counter-attacking knock against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Kyle Mayers laid a perfect foundation for the LSG batters with a brilliant 24-ball 54. It is fair to say that Stoinis carried on the good work and made light work of the PBKS bowling attack, which lacked the cutting-edge. Stoinis reached his second fifty of the IPL 2023 as the LSG batter made a strong statement.
He took a special liking towards Sam Curran, smashing him for a couple of big hits to announce his intentions. Dhawan brought on Rahul Chahar against the Aussie player, but that had little to no effect as Stoinis toyed away with the leg-spinner to reach a sensational fifty, laced with 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Talking about the LSG innings, they are well on their course to cross the 250-run barrier. Mayers started the carnage and Stoinis, Badoni made sure that there was no slip up. Even Nicholas Pooran, who came in at the loss of Badoni's wicket smashed Liam Livingstone for three fours in a row to rattle the home team.
