Faheem Ashraf goes big for Rangpur Riders in Sylhet
Opening the bowling with Nahid Rana, Rangpur Riders’ Pakistan import Faheem Ashraf went wicketless in his first over inside the powerplay. However, the speedster struck big after the powerplay phase, removing Mahfijul Islam before claiming the wickets of Masood Gurbaz and Chattogram Royals captain Mahedi Hasan in the space of just four deliveries.
Faheem Ashraf also mopped up the Royals tail with the wickets of Abu Hider and Shoriful Islam in quick succession to set up an easy 103-run target for the Rangpur Riders. Apart from Faheem, Nahid Rana, Sufiyan Muqeem and Al Islam chipped in with a wicket each; and senior man Mustafizur Rahman picked up two in his three overs.
Rangpur Riders ended up winning the match by seven wickets as they mowed down Chattogram Royals’ 102 in just 15 overs. Opening batter Dawid Malan compiled 51 from 48 balls with five fours and two sixes, and Litton Das cracked a swift 47 off just 31. Mukidul Islam picked up two quick wickets after Malan and Litton’s 91-run opening stand before Khushdil Shah notched up the winning runs.
