For any cricketer, performing against Australia in Australia is a dream, which many players have failed to achieve. However, for one Aamer Jamal, the cherished dream of many came true in the ongoing three-Test series against Australia, where the pacer made his red-ball debut for Pakistan in the Perth encounter.

Jamal made his mark, claiming a maiden five-wicket haul on debut, which the bowler registered on Day 2 of the Perth Test, finishing with six wickets overall, becoming the second Pakistan pacer to do so against Australia Down Under.

This feat is only matched by former Pakistan bowler Arif Butt, who clinched six wickets on a Test debut against Australia in Melbourne in 1964.

Interestingly, Butt was the first Pakistan bowler to pick five wickets on his Test debut, and Jamal became the 14th player from the country to achieve this landmark feat.

The 27-year-old displayed counter-aggression and intent in his bowling, despite the Australian batter being on top in their first innings. Jamal claimed the wickets of Travis Head, David Warner, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Nathan Lyon, with the final four falling on Day 2.

Butt, who played just three Tests for Pakistan, secured the wickets of Australian captain Bob Simpson, Bill Lawry, Barry Shepherd, Brian Booth, Tom Vievers, David Sincock, and Graham Mckenzie's wickets in his six-for.

Meanwhile, Pakistan have kicked off their first innings, with openers Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq batting with caution and control.
