On Tuesday, August 19, the Pakistan Shaheens faced off against the Chicago Kingsmen in the ongoing Top-End T20 Series in Australia. The Irfan Khan-led side are in deep trouble as the Shaheens leaked 206 runs bowling first.

The PCB is keeping a keen eye on the match as Mohammad Wasim Jr is playing in this match. Notably, Wasim Jr, who last played a T20I for Pakistan in January 2024, was picked up for the Asia Cup 2025, replacing seamer Naseem Shah in the squad.

Notably, Wasim Jr had a miserable outing against Chicago as the right-arm seamer leaked 57 runs in his four overs. It was Wasim's one of the worst spells in his career, but he ended up taking two wickets.

A Rare Bad Day For Wasim Jr

Despite leaking 57 runs in four overs, the PCB should not be worried about Wasim's form, as it was his first bad game in the entire tournament.

Talking about his other performances in this tour, Wasim has taken six wickets in four innings, with an economy of 8.58 and a strike rate of 12.

Why Did PCB Replace Wasim Jr With Naseem Shah?

Besides the Top-End T20 series, Wasim Jr has consistently performed well in other series and took 10 wickets in 8 innings in PSL, while he also took 9 wickets in six innings during BPL 2024-25.

However, Naseem Shah seems to be struggling with his form and has looked like a pale shadow of his past versions.

Talking about Naseem, he took just nine wickets in 10 innings in PSL and three wickets in two innings against New Zealand in the ODI series. Thus, the PCB wanted to try new bowlers and opt for Wasim Jr ahead of Shah.
