In a significant development, there are reports that the squad announcement for Asia Cup is set to be delayed because of heavy rains in Mumbai. Notably, the presser was set to take place at 1:30 pm IST. 

According to a report from Hindustan Times, the BCCI updated the media houses with a notification that the conference is most likely to be delayed because of heavy rains in Mumbai. 

"Kindly note that the first press conference is expected to be delayed owing to weather disruptions," read the BCCI circular as quoted by Hindustan Times.

At the time of writing, the board has not updated about the revised timings for the presser.

Red Alert Issued In Mumbai

The weather has disrupted BCCI's plans as heavy rains has forced the authorities to issue a red-alert. Several pperations have come to a standstill and schools have been shut with office goers asked to Work from Home.

Notably, heavy showers are prediced for the entire day and the BCCI will find it really difficult to hold the squad announcement amid this severe weather.

Why The BCCI Will Find It Difficult To Hold A Press Conference

Despite the officials, selectors and India captain being in Mumbai, it is still difficult to assemble at BCCI headquarters because of the directives issued by the government to stay indoors and not travel outside.

There is high risk of getting stuck in jam, waterlogging and several rain-related issues, which will postpone the meeting. However, an official statement is yet to be issued by the apex cricket board of India.
