Pakistan outflanked West Indies on a spin-heavy Day 3 to secure a huge series-leading victory at the Multan Cricket Stadium. Spinners Sajid Khan and Abrar Ahmed enforced a speedy result for the hosts after Jomel Warrican sparked a spirited fightback for the West Indies.

Here’s the timeline of how PAK vs WI panned out in Multan:

PAK vs WI Highlights: Jomel Warrican Induce Dramatic Pakistan Collapse

Resuming the second innings on Day 3 at 109-3 with a lead of 202 runs, Pakistan lost overnight batter Saud Shakeel to West Indies left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican off the first ball of the day for just two. Mohammad Rizwan and well-set Kamran Ghulam (27 off 66) also made their way back to the sheds a while later as Warrican ran through Pakistan’s middle-order.

The visiting spinner added two more wickets to his tally in the form of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan to claim career-best figures of 7-32. With seven wickets in the innings and accounting for two separate run outs, Jomel Warrican’s spell helped West Indies skittle Pakistan out from 109-3 to 157 all out, with Gudakesh Motie rounding up the final wicket on offer.

PAK vs WI Highlights: Sajid Khan Jolts West Indies Top-Order

Defending just 251 runs for a win, Pakistan off-spinner Sajid Khan rocked West Indies top-order with four quick wickets, all inside the first hour of the run-chase to reduce them to 37-4. The 31-year-old dismissed both West Indies openers, including visiting captain Kraigg Brathwaite, before adding Keacy Carty and Kavem Hodge to his tally to pick up his second four-wicket haul of the match.

Alick Athanaze at number five fought on for the West Indies by forming crucial partnerships with Tevin Imlach and Kevin Sinclair to take them past the 100-run mark. Playing a lone hand in the run-chase, Athanaze punched out 55 runs from 68 balls with seven elegant boundaries.

PAK vs WI Highlights: Abrar Ahmed Mops Up West Indies Tail

Amidst Alick Athanaze’s threatening resistance, Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed triggered another West Indies collapse after the visitors attained some positive momentum at 95-5. The 26-year-old mopped up the West Indies tail with four quick wickets to finish with astonishing figures of 4-27.

Sajid Khan picked up his fifth wicket of the innings in the form of dangerman Alick Athanaze to bag 5-50 as the West Indies folded up for just 123 in their 251-run pursuit.

Pakistan won the match by 127 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.
