In a major development for Pakistan cricket, young talent Mohammad Huraira has been named as a replacement for Saim Ayub in the playing XI for the much-anticipated 1st Test against the West Indies in Multan. He is known for his solid performances in domestic cricket and his potential to make an impact at the international level.

Who is 22-year-old Mohammad Huraira?

Mohd. Huraira first garnered attention during the 2020 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where he was a key player for Pakistan. Though the team was eliminated by India in the semi-finals, Huraira shone in the quarter-final against Afghanistan, scoring an essential 64 off 76 balls, helping Pakistan to a six-wicket win. His performance earned him the Player of the Match award.

Huraira was again selected for the Pakistan squad in 2023 for a series against Sri Lanka but did not get a chance to play. He finally broke through in July 2024, when he made a double-century for Pakistan A in a Test match against Bangladesh A, showing his immense potential in the longer format. With over 3400 runs at an impressive average of 56.24 in first-class cricket, Huraira has consistently impressed selectors with his technique and temperament.

Emotional Huraira's Chat With Father Before Debut

In a video interaction with his father before making his debut, the 22-year-old star's emotional chat is bound to get one gloomy-eyed. His father, visibly emotional, thanked god for giving well-deserved success to his son for his hard-work. He also highlighted how his son has fulfilled his life-long dream of playing for Pakistan.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, the first Test match between Pakistan and West Indies has been halted due to foggy weather resulting in low visibility.
