The Pakistan vs South Africa ODI series is now level at 1-1, with the series-deciding 3rd ODI set to take place on November 8. After South Africa’s dominant win in the 2nd ODI, Pakistan will look to bounce back at Iqbal Stadium as the action goes live for fans from 3:30 PM IST.

Pakistan

Though Pakistan had a narrow win in the first ODI, South Africa completely dominated the second encounter, with Quinton de Kock shining with a 123-run knock while chasing Pakistan’s 270-run target. Pakistan bowlers were brutally hammered by the Proteas batters, with only Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Faheem Ashraf managing to take one wicket each in the second ODI.

The most expensive of the lot was Mohammad Nawaz, who conceded 37 runs from his four overs. Hence, the bowling unit needs to bounce back, along with batter Fakhar Zaman, who was dismissed for a duck in the previous outing. Babar Azam will also hope to regain his rhythm after two consecutive failures, while Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Ali Agha will be crucial in stabilising the middle overs.

South Africa

South Africa put up a strong show with both bat and ball. Nandre Burger was impressive with his four-wicket haul from 10 overs, while Nqaba Peter also scalped three wickets alongside Corbin Bosch’s two, restricting Pakistan’s batting lineup to just 269 runs.

South African batters Quinton de Kock and Tony de Zorzi will once again be key to forming a solid foundation, with Donovan Ferreira, George Linde, and Matthew Breetzke expected to anchor the middle order and middle overs.

PAK vs SA head-to-head overview in ODIs

Pakistan and South Africa have faced each other in 89 ODI matches. Out of all these, South Africa has dominated Pakistan with 53 wins to their name, while Pakistan have managed 35 victories. Only one match between them ended with no result.

Iqbal Stadium Faisalabad pitch report

The Iqbal Stadium pitch usually features a lush green surface that provides early assistance to seamers. However, it also offers good bounce, allowing batters to play well-timed shots. As the match progresses, spinners tend to play a bigger role, and scoring becomes more difficult in the second half. Therefore, the captain winning the toss is likely to opt for batting first and aim to post a solid total on the board.
