Pakistan might have just found their next T20 sensation and he goes by the name Hasan Nawaz. If you haven’t heard of him yet, now’s the time to sit up and take notice.
The 22-year-old has taken the cricketing world by storm with a knock that’s gonna be remembered for ages.
Who Is Hasan Nawaz? Pakistan’s Latest T20I Batting Star
At Eden Park, Auckland, in the third T20I against the Kiwis, Hasan Nawaz pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Chasing a massive 205, the youngster went berserk and smacked the fastest T20I hundred ever by a Pakistani batter – off just 44 balls. Yes, faster than Babar Azam’s 49-ball classic against South Africa back in 2021.
And what makes this century special is that he had bagged ducks in his first two international outings. Talk about making a comeback and silencing the critics in style.
Pakistan were 2-0 down in the five-match series and staring down the barrel. But Hasan had other plans. His whirlwind knock of 105 off 45 balls with 10 fours and seven sixes not only helped Pakistan chase down the colossal target but also kept their hopes alive in the series. So, who is Hasan Nawaz really?
Born on 21 August 2002, Hasan Nawaz hails from Layyah, a quiet town in South Punjab. But there’s nothing quiet about his batting. The guy has always had a knack for explosive knocks.
He made noise in the Kashmir Premier League while playing for Mirpur Royals, where he ended up as the second-highest run-getter. That's where he first started turning heads.
Then came the National T20 Cup 2022-23, where he was picked by Northern. Soon enough, Islamabad United came calling in PSL 8, and now for PSL 10, he’s been roped in by Quetta Gladiators.
Hasan Nawaz Stats
- In T20s, he’s played 23 matches, scored 492 runs at a strike rate of 129.47, with two fifties under his belt.
- In First-Class cricket, he’s smashed 587 runs in 11 matches, with a best of 169.
- His List A record? Not too flashy yet – just 120 runs in 5 matches. But he is just getting started.
Moreover, he can roll his arm over with some right-arm medium pace as well. Handy with the ball and lethal with the bat.
A Debut To forget, A Record To Remember
Hasan made his T20I debut on March 16, 2025, against New Zealand at Hagley Oval. Got out on a duck. Then another duck in the second match. Most would've crumbled under the pressure, but not this guy. He came out swinging in the third game and made sure the world remembered his name.
