In an intense clash currently underway, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first against Afghanistan at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Monday. Babar Azam informed that vice-captain Shadab Khan would make a return to the Playing XI in place of Mohd. Nawaz who has fever.
On the other hand, Afghanistan skipper, Hashmatullah Shahidi looked confident in his decision to make Fazalhaq Farooqi sit out and in his place bring left arm wrist spinner, Noor Ahmed.

Hashmatullah Shahidi:
"Honestly, we wanted to bat first. But toss is not in your control. We have one change. Instead of Farooqi we have Noor Ahmad. Yes, we have played them recently in Sri Lanka and know their strengths and weaknesses. Hope to do well against them. I think somewhere around 250 or below will be gettable. Hope we can restrict them to a total."
Babar Azam:
"We are gonna bat first. The pitch looks like a dry one. Hence we will put runs on the board. Yes, we have one change. Unfortunately, Nawaz has a fever, and hence Shadab Khan comes back. We need to step up in all 3 departments. Ahh... We talk to each other and ask everyone to give their 100%. I always tell to each one that they are the best player and to give their 100%. That's what you ask from your players. I am expecting some help for the pacers under lights."
