Pakistan-A cruised to a comfortable win over hosts Oman in the third Group B match and the seventh overall of the 2024 ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground. The outcome marked Pakistan A’s opening points of the tournament after they coped a crashing defeat at the hands of arch-rivals India A.

Muzahir Raza struck early for Oman by getting rid of both Pakistan A opening batters, Mohammad Haris and Yasir Khan, in a space of just three deliveries of the third over of the match. Overcoming Raza’s (2-29) new ball threat, Pakistan A middle-order stars Omair Yousuf and Qasim Akram rectified opening failure by sharing 72 runs together for the third wicket.

Yousuf pumped out 25 runs off 21 balls with three boundaries from his end before he was caught-and-bowled by Sufyan Mehmood (1-20) in the 11th over. Rohail Nazir and Arafat Minhas formed forces in the 16th over of the innings, i.e., shortly after the dismissal of Abdul Samad to Wasim Ali. With mere five overs in hand, both Nazir and Minhas blasted 69 runs together from just 31 balls to blaze Pakistan A to 185-5 by the completion of their innings.

Rohail Nazir clobbered three boundaries and two sixes to tow 41 unbeaten runs from just 20 balls, whole Arafat Minhas hauled 31* from 15 with two boundaries and as many sixes.

Oman’s run-chase never took off despite losing no wicket in the first five overs of the innings. Openers Aamir Kaleem (11 off 18) and captain Jatinder Singh (24 off 29) strangely employed cautious approach to their batting before both were toppled by Qasim Akram (1-16) and Sufiyan Muqeem (1-15) respectively.
