NZ vs NED | Former RCB Player Recreates Kapil Dev's 1983 WC-Winning Catch

Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) all-rounder Roelof van der Merwe is playing one of the biggest games of his life as the Netherlands are facing New Zealand in front of a jam-packed Hyderabad crowd.

The left-arm spinning all-rounder scalped two crucial Kiwi wickets using his magical arm. Apart from that, the 38-year-old poured wizardry with his fielding as well. While standing in the 30-yard circle during an Aryan Dutt over, van der Merwe recreated the famous Kapil Dev running-back catch, just like the former Indian captain took of Viv Richards in the 1983 World Cup final.

In the 45th over of the ongoing match, Mark Chapman tried slogging Dutt over cover, but his edge miscued the hit. The ball ballooned in the air, and the fielder at backward point rushed backwards to take a blinder while diving.

Meanwhile, the former RCB all-rounder's efforts with the ball went in vain as the Black Caps got successful in putting a massive total of 322 runs on the board. It is worth mentioning, that the Dutch reduced New Zealand to 254-6 when Chapman went back to the hut.

Nevertheless, the Holand side will have to chase 323 runs to script history against New Zealand on Monday evening.
