Brief Scores: New Zealand - 322-7 (50)

Will Young 70 (80), Tom Latham 53 (46); Roelof van der Merwe 2-56 (9), Paul van Meekeren 2-59 (9).

The New Zealand batters are having a gala time in the ongoing World Cup 2023. After a demolition job against the defending champions, England, the Kiwi batters took the Dutch attack to the cleaners. Crucial contributions from Will Young, Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham propelled them to a healthy 322 on the board.

Conway, Young provide a perfect platform

Devon Conway continued from where he left against England and laid a perfect platform for the other batters to capitalise on. Interestingly, New Zealand started the innings by playing out three maidens in a row, but once the dust settled in, both Conway and his partner, Will Young took the Netherlands attack to the cleaners.

They raced away to fifty in no time, but Conway eventually perished for a well-compiled 32. Young, who failed in the last match against England, made for it with a brilliant 70 as the middle-order batters had a perfect platform to launch an attack on the opposition.

Rachin, Mitchell, Latham continue the good work

Rachin Ravindra is in the form of his life as the newly promoted number 3 batter made the most the opportunity and played yet another blinder. In a near chanceless innings, he played some gorgeous shots to reach a quality fifty. The hallmark of the innings was a humongous six that he smacked to Colin Ackermann.

Rachin departed after breaching the 50-run mark, but Daryl Mitchell made sure that he takes the responsibility to steer New Zealand to a mammoth total. The all-rounder, who has been in magnificent form as of late, made a mockery of the Dutch attack, and pressed the accelerator as the Netherlands had no answer to his onslaught.

However, just before reaching the fifty run mark, Mitchell's stumps were castled by Meekeren. NZ lost a couple of quick wickets towards the end, but skipper Latham stood at one end. He did land some lusty blows and it was his quick-fire innings that helped the Kiwis post a competitive total. Not only the middle-order batters, but Mitch Santner also used his long leavers to clean the fence a couple of times.
