The much awaited Champions Trophy 2025 is up and running and Team India has also kicked off their campaign on Thursday, February 20. Rohit Sharma and his men are up against Bangladesh in their first match in Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
Winning the toss, Bangladesh’s skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto elected to bat first, eyeing to have a positive start with the bat. However, the Men In Blue had other plans and got off to a flying start, reducing Bangladesh to 39 for 5 inside the first ten overs.
The decision to bat first turned into a disaster for Bangladesh as they started the Champions Trophy 2025 by making it to the list of highest number of wickets fall in the first 10 overs in Champions Trophy history.

Shami Gives India A Flying Start
Starting the proceedings with the ball, Mohammed Shami, coming on the back of a poor run after injury, justified his selection as he sent back Bangladeshi opener Soumya Sarkar for a duck in the very first over. Harshit Rana too joined the party and went on to remove the Bangladeshi skipper Shanto to make it 2-2 after the first two overs.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz joined hands with Tanzid Hasan to reconstruct the innings but was soon halted by a beautiful catch from Shubman Gill at first slip. Moreover, Captain Rohit introduced spin in the later half of the powerplay, bringing in Axar Patel into the attack and the left-arm spinner took two wickets in his first over to further derail the Bangladeshi innings.
At the time of writing, Bangladesh have Jaker Ali and Towhid Hridoy in the middle. The pair need to do some heavy rebuilding from here to bring Bangladesh back in the game. Meanwhile, India will be hoping to keep the pressure mounting and wrap the Bangladeshi innings as soon as possible.
