A heated moment occurred in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2025 match between St Lucia Kings and the Trinbago Knight Riders. The incident involved three big names in the league - Mohammad Amir, Kieron Pollard, and Tim David. A controversial dismissal turned ugly as the umpire had to intervene, and Pollard, and David were involved in fiery exchanges.
Big controversy involving Amir-Tim David
The match itself turned out to be a close-fought contest, and the wicket of Tim David turned the tide for the Trinbago Knight Riders. In the 15th over of the St Lucia batting, Amir was in the attack, and Tim David looked threatening enough to snatch the game away from the opposition. However, a baffling decision took place.
Amir bowled a yorker at the sixth stump line, and the fielding team immediately called for a catch dismissal as David missed his shot by a whisker. The umpire gave it not out, but the Knight Riders took the DRS and referred it upstairs. In the replays, there was a spike as the ball passed the bat, but visually, it looked as if there was a huge gap between the bat, and the ball.
However, the third umpire gave the decision in Mohammad Amir and TKR's favour, and this infuriated David, who was fuming with anger, and had a discussion with the umpire. Pollard also joined in as Amir gave a send-off to the batter.
Amir's huge T20 record bagged in CPL
Amir is having a dream run in the CPL 2025 season, and a couple of days ago, he entered history books by becoming just the second bowler from Pakistan to bag 400 T20 wickets. He achieved the milestone in the previous clash against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
Only Wahab Riaz (413) has more wickets than Amir, and despite missing a considerable cricketing period, Amir created history with his 400th scalp in the game's shortest format.
